The deacon ministry as described in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion and sound judgment are chosen for this ministry.
The deacons organize funeral receptions, coordinate meal and transportation requests, deliver donations to the community food pantry, prepare the communion elements for both services, mail cards to those on the Sunday prayer list and visit shut-ins. At Christmas they prepare food and gift boxes for approximately 35 community families who are in need of assistance.
Support for the deacons ministry is provided by donations, over and above the pledges to the church. Information for donations to the deacons can be found here - Gift Acceptance Policy.
