Sunday Bulletin

Welcome to Community Presbyterian Church! Each week we are privileged to have new people attending worship for the first time, and we want you to feel welcome among us. Following the service, please join us in our fellowship room "Teddy’s Hall" for fellowship and refreshments.
Prayer Slips ~ Baskets of prayer slips will be passed during announcement time today. Please take a yellow slip, and pray each day this month for the person written on that slip. Remember that the Lord hears and answers every prayer.
Save the Date ~ You are invited to the Service of Ordination and Installation for Andrew Hoeksema on Saturday, November 11 at 2:00 pm. Reception will follow.
New Beginnings ~ is the theme of this year’s Stewardship Campaign. You should have received a letter and pledge card in the mail this last week and can return it to the church office, leave it in the Joash box (located in the narthex by the sign-up sheets), or new this year you can give online through our website. The pledges will be dedicated on October 29. Please take the time to prayerfully consider your pledge to our church. Thank you for your pledge during this exciting new chapter in the life of our church. 
Cantata Rehearsals ~ for all interested singers will begin Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 pm. Interested Instrumentalists, please contact musical director Karen Sipes through the church office. This year’s Cantata is titled Invitation to a Miracle by Joseph Martin and will be performed on December 17 at both morning services at 9:00 and 11:00.
It’s Fiesta Time! ~ at Mazatlán’s Restaurant (Hwy 97). The Youth will be holding a fundraising dinner on Sunday, October 15, from 5:00-9:00 pm.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Youth Mexico Mission Trip and other camp scholarships.
Cold Weather Shelter Open House ~ Learn how the Shepherd’s House ministries shelter serves the neediest during the deadly cold of Central Oregon’s winter season. Learn how you can serve a much needed part in providing a warm and safe shelter that will save lives. Open house is Tuesday, October 17, from 6:30-8:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church gymnasium.  Attending is not a commitment to do more than learn about this year’s program.

Christmas in October! ~ This year the CPC Children will be helping Samaritan’s Purse with their service project, “Operation Christmas Child.”  Children around the world, who would otherwise have nothing, will be blessed with a box full of goodies. If you would like to help our children fulfill another child’s Christmas wish, please consider donating to this project. You can find donation ideas in CPC’s October Lamplighter, page 9. Carole Kardy will be accepting donations on their behalf in the narthex today and next Sunday.


Date Change for Angelfest Holiday Bazaar ~ New Date is Saturday, November 4, 9 am to 3 pm in Teddy’s Hall. The tables will be full of gifts and assorted goodies. The proceeds from all sales will benefit a number of Redmond community projects and the CPC youth mission trip. Lunch of soup and pie will be served from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Angelfest Café. If you have items to donate for the sale, please bring them to the church on Friday, November 3, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm and please mark your items with a suggested price. Volunteers to help setup on Friday, November 3, or with the sale on Saturday will be appreciated. Please see the sign-up sheet in the narthex.
Angelfest coordinators are Lynn Hodecker, Luann Johnson, and Margo Menown.


Men’s Breakfast ~ All are welcome to attend the Men’s Breakfast on Wednesday, November 1, 8:00 am in Teddy’s Hall to hear Curt Floski, Executive Director of The Shepherd's House in Bend, and John Lodise, Community Support for The Shepherd's House, speak about the homeless issues and needs in Central Oregon. The sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.


The Quilts Are Up! ~ Teddy's Hall is adorned with many of the quilts that have been produced by the Quilters during the past year. If you would like to purchase a quilt, these are the steps:
1) Write your name and phone number in the spaces provided on the tag.
2) The Quilters will take down the quilt and call you to let you know when they are ready for you to pick up. If you want it sooner, please contact a Quilter and we will help.
3) Pay in the office or one of the quilters.
4) Take your quilt home and enjoy!

Coffee and Tea Donations ~ the Congregational Life Team is accepting donations for coffee and large teabags for iced tea to support the fellowship hour on Sunday mornings. Thank you.

CPC’s MOPS Ministry ~ is going strong. In fact, so strong at the first meeting in September, we had over 60 children in our classrooms. As such, we are in desperate need of assistance. Men and women alike, if you have a heart for children and would like to support this ministry, please consider joining the ranks of our Moppetts. Watching the children is based solely around your schedule and you would be in the company of our wonderful volunteers.

Juniper Springs Senior Living ~ is currently being built behind the church. If you are interested in learning more about this new community, you can find information in the narthex located by the sign-up sheets.

Ladies' Study ~ every Wednesday at 9:30 am in the Mountain Room.  They are studying the Book of Daniel.

Fall Yard Clean Up -- Would you like help? ~The CPC Mission Team is starting a program to assist CPC congregants who could use some help with yard cleanup this fall, tentative dates are October 21 and/or October 28. Please see the sign-up sheets in the narthex.

 *One sign-up sheet for people who need some Fall cleanup yard work help (please sign up before October 16).

 *One sign-up sheet for people (Adults, Teens, and Families welcome) who would be willing to assist with yard  work like raking leaves/debris, some trimming, and disposal of yard debris.

Chair Aerobics ~ meets every Monday and Thursday at 9:15 am at the church in the Mountain Room! This is a free class for both men and women who would like to participate in a great exercise workout.
